Send/Upload Files

• E-Mail Attachments to artwork@tugboatmedia.com (under 2MB)
• FTP Upload: Host: ftp.tugboatmedia.com / User ID: tugboat / Password: tugboat
• A private account can be set up if a client wishes to keep uploaded files confidential. In this case it will be required that the client send us an e-mail including company name, preferred user-id and password.
• We recommend the following FTP software*: Fetch (Mac) or CuteFTP (PC)

Technical Requirements

• Formats: Tugboat Media’s print production department is Mac-based, operates on OS X and currently supports the most common graphic software applications.
• Media: CD, CD-R, DVD, DVD-R (Discs will not be returned). We do not accept film.
• File formats: PDF/X1a (or distilled press-quality PDF) InDesign or Quark XPress (collected with supporting fonts and images). No Illustrator files please (production charges will apply).
• Creating PDF files: PDF must have embedded fonts and distilled with Hi-Res images (please use our PDF job options file to create your PDF)
• Proofs: A high resolution colour proof (laser, inkjet or matchprint) must accompany all ads. If a hard-copy, colour proof is not supplied, Tugboat Media is not responsible for undesirable printing results.
• Fonts: Screen and printer fonts required for output should be converted to outlines.
• Images: All images must be CMYK or grayscale and 300 dpi. Images may be TIFF or EPS (encoding: Binary, not ASCII or JPEG). Low resolution JPEG files will not be accepted.
• Trapping: Tugboat Media is not responsible for undesirable results due to improper trapping. Files must be submitted with trapping to fit.
